A New Frontier Director: Valarie Jernigan 6 Minutes • USA • Documentary Short
As part of the US Government’s Relocation Program for American Indians in operation during the 1950s-1970s, LaVerne Roberts, an eighteen-year old Paiute woman from Nevada, boarded a bus for San Jose, CA, altering the course of her life. This film provides a portrait of LaVerne’s story within the larger context of the effect of the Relocation program on contemporary Native American society.
