Help AIFI Support the Advocacy, Promotion + Distribution of our 2016 Film-works, Actors and Performing Arts.

The first step in becoming part of a community is to empower the voices and leaders of that community. AIFI continues to create and foster visibility and access among American Indian and First Nation filmmakers and youth via its landmark and renowned American Indian Film Festival, now entering its 41st Season; and the youth media empowerment academy Tribal Touring Program, now entering its 17th year, providing a media education and production encampment for Indian teenagers throughout the west.

Helping those at the core of the indigenous community transition from oral to visual storytelling connects AIFI with the next generation of media makers. As racial and ethnic minorities start to become the majorities across major nations worldwide, organizations such as AIFI will accelerate looking for innovative ways to adapt their marketing strategy to accommodate the changes. Both cultural and government leaders alike have been outspoken about the impending shift. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The White House, and other major organizations are taking steps to embrace the coming change such as Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative and the Academy’s diversity initiative A2020. AIFI’s long standing involvement in native communities via American Indian Film Festival and Tribal Touring Program provide a roadmap for future interaction and partnerships with other currently disadvantage groups. By creating growth within native cultures epicenter, we aim to continually infuse ourselves into the narratives that will shape the perspective of generations to come… one story at a time.
