Featuring the voice of Nisqually fisherman, environmentalist and activist Billy Frank Jr., “Salmon” explores the life cycle of the salmon as well as its importance as a “keystone species” to our environment and to our way of life on Turtle Island. Billy dedicated his life to the well-being of salmon as well as to the rivers and watersheds that provide spawning beds and paths to the ocean necessary to maintain a healthy salmon population and balanced, thriving ecosystem. For his lifetime of hard work, Billy was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015, our nation’s highest civilian honor.
