Native Wisdom - The Peoples of Eastern Oregon

Directed by Lawrence Johnson and Tim Keenan Burgess (Paiute, Shoshone) Indigenous scientists, artists and elders from several Oregon interior tribes, including the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla Reservation, Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde share observations of their changing environment, natural resource issues, and the beauty of tribes’ traditional arts, music and storytelling.

Native Wisdom - The Peoples of Eastern Oregon is included in the Climate 2 Program and it screens with Along the Winisk River.

THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN FILM INSTITUTE IS TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE CULTURE, TRADITIONS, AND ISSUES FACING CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN INDIANS. AIFI SUPPORTS FILMMAKERS WHOSE WORK EXPRESSES THE NATIVE VOICES, VIEWPOINTS, AND STORIES HISTORICALLY EXCLUDED FROM MAINSTREAM MEDIA; DEVELOPS STORIES TRADITIONALLY EXCLUDED FROM MAINSTREAM MEDIA; CREATES AUDIENCES FOR THEIR WORK; AND ADVOCATES FOR AUTHENTIC REPRESENTATION OF AMERICAN INDIANS IN THE MEDIA.
